Dr. Martha Jin Hillis is a California-licensed acupuncturist and herbalist who practices the full spectrum of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). She specializes in orthopedics, sports medicine, and pain management, while also treating a wide range of internal medicine conditions through Canonical Chinese Herbalism.
Dr. Martha has extensive training in integrating Western orthopedic diagnostics with Eastern therapeutic principles, studying under Dr. Anthony Von der Muhll, L.Ac, DNBAO. In addition to traditional acupuncture, she utilizes advanced techniques such as prolo-acupuncture, dry needling, cupping (myofascial decompression), gua sha, and craniosacral therapy to address pain, injuries, and scar tissue. By combining the wisdom of ancient Eastern medicine with modern Western approaches, Dr. Martha provides a truly integrative and effective model of care.
As a Diplomate in Canonical Herbal Medicine through the Institute of Classics in East Asian Medicine, Dr. Martha trained under Dr. Arnaud Versluys, L.Ac., Ph.D. Canonical medicine draws exclusively from Han Dynasty (206 BCE–221 CE) medical texts, which form the foundation of modern Chinese medicine. These classical herbal formulas aim to restore the body’s natural physiology and instinct for self-healing, promoting long-term balance and wellness. With customized herbal formulas, she supports patients with women’s health and fertility, digestive health, urinary issues, and respiratory conditions.
