Martha is a California state licensed acupuncturist and herbalist. Martha practices Traditional Chinese Medicine in its full spectrum. Her acupuncture specialization is in orthopedics and pain management. She is also experienced in treating internal medicine conditions using Canonical Chinese Herbalism. Using herbal formulas she treats many conditions, such as women’s health and fertility, digestion, migraines, urinary and respiratory ailments.
Martha received her bachelor’s degree from University of California, Santa Barbara. She completed her 4-year Master’s Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from National University of Natural Medicine. She is currently working on her Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine at Yo San University.
Martha is a Diplomat in Canonical Herbal Medicine from the Institute of Classics in East Asian Medicine, where she studied with Dr. Arnaud Versluys. L.Ac., Ph.D. Canonical medicine refers the use of exclusively Han Dynasty (206 BC-221 AD) medical texts. These are the foundations for all modern Chinese medicine, and these herbal formulas remind the body of its natural function, and restore the instinct for self-healing. The emphasis is the promotion of proper physiology from a classical Chinese perspective.
Martha is completing Acupuncture Orthopedic Certificate in Integrative Orthopedic Acupuncture with Anthony Von Der Muhll, L.Ac, DNBAO. Her comprehensive orthopedic and sports medicine background integrates western diagnosis of musculo-skeletal disorders with eastern treatment principles. In addition to traditional acupuncture, Martha utilizes cupping (myofascial decompresion), dry needling, prolo-acupuncture, and gua sha in her treatment of pain and injuries. She combines this knowledge of ancient eastern and modern western concepts to specialize in sports medicine, orthopedics, pain management, and scar tissue repair.
